I havent but it bothers my mom so much that she has had 20 layers of masking tape, taped over her VCR clock for years now.

Yep, not because it's blinking but because the electricity has went out and the startling noise of it causes me to wake up and clearing my eyes guess what I see the VCR blinking 12:00. That was the older versions. The new ones keep the time.

I have with my alarm clock. Maybe its something in our body that makes us wake up to acknolegde that our time is off, therefore it may mess up the rest of our day. The 12:00 blinking is due to a power outage that just occured right before you woke up.

Yes this is usually an indication of a local power outage. Sometimes with-in your home exterior.
