Anybody have experience with photography? I am getting into it and I have a camera already but I just bought that one to take random picture of events, its not a really good camera to take awesome pictures with. I'm going to enroll in a photography course in Feb. and my parents are going to buy my camera for me for Christmas - but I don't want them to spend too much money on it - does anyone know a great camera within the price range of 2-3 hundred dollars (maybe 350) any advice would be great!

Is there any way to contact the instructor of the course that you are planning on attending? He may have some ideas on which features on a camera would be helpful for the course.
Are you talking digital or film? Makes a world of difference. If you're going film, think "used" camera, 35mm's are going for a song.
You really should try contacting the school.

Now is a good time to find a great film camera for peanuts.
You might find a Nikon F100 in the $350 neighborhood. Add a 50mm 1.8 lens new for another $100 and you're in business!
I had an offer to purchase a good condition Nikon N90s for $100, which was a good deal (if I didn't already have 3 Nikon film bodies)
Check www.KEH.com to browse used camera equipment from a dealer you can trust. Or check eBay.
I'd have a chat with the instructor and see what he/she recommends.

Try looking at the Canon A Series. I'm not sure of the current line-up, but I know they offer great features at a competitve price.

There is a web site www.alwaysbelowretail.com that has psp, ps2 and ps3 plus 50,000 other quality brand name products of every kind at approx 50% below retail prices. The best feature though is that they offer a full description of all the capabilities of every one. Great for finding out what they offer and compare it to what you need.

Since you are taking a class, I will guess that you are looking for a film camera. Bob's advice to try to speak to the instructor is a good suggestion.
