For the health of your female you will want her to be at least 2 years of age.
Her body will be developing until that age, if she becomes pregnant at a young age, the nutrient needed to form strong, healthy baby's will have to be divided between the needs of her (still growing) body and the developing babies. One of the other will be deprived of much needed nutrients.

It is not recommended to breed a female until she is at least 2 yrs old. This give you time to do adequate health testing and time to find a stud dog that will complement the lines you intend to improve.
Don't breed because you want one that is just like your dog.... it doesn't happen! If you aren't health testing and breeding for the betterment of the breed.... don't breed period.

You should wait until she is at least 2 years old before you breed her. Before then her body is not mature enough to handle a pregnancy without significant risks to her health. If you have any questions about what you should be doing to prepare her for breeding and questions about raising puppies ask your vet. There really is a lot of work and research needed if you are going to be a responsible breeder and do this right, otherwise leave it to the pros and get her spayed. Good luck!

They recommend that you do not breed a female even if she is in heat until she is at least a year and a half.

a year and a half to two years. I suggest you don't breed since this is a pretty basic question about dogs and theyre are a lot more complicated questions out there.

She can't be bred until her first heat (estrus cycle) which is usually around a year but can be sooner or later. Pregnancy is hard on a dogs body and if you decide to do it at all I would wait until her second heat which will come 6mo. after her first heat.
