Probaly the reason your top leg gets numb is because you don't move it and it gets numb. It happens with every other body part like your arm, I've never heard that it's bad so I doubt it and alot of woman cross their legs and I'm sure people would know about it if it was hurtful.

It does cause vericose viens. When you sit cross legged for a long time does one of your legs go numb or feels tired? It's because it is slowing and cutting off circulation of blood to your legs. Not good since it cause veins in your legs to become either full of blood not moving or has no blood at all. This causes vericose veins, it's not just an old wives tale. It can also weaken your joints and cause pain or discomfort much later in life. It's a hard habit to break but every time you catch yourself doing it quickly put both feet back on the floor.

I am 45, and have always crossed my legs for as long as I can remember. When I don't cross them, I have one tucked underneath Me. I so wish I didn't have this habit. I am trying to break it. I now have vericose veins, and very very bad knees. I to get the numbness, but the pain that i get on a daily basis is according to my Dr., from doing this. Its a hard habit to break, I hope you are more sucessful than Me.

I hope it isn't! I'm 13 and started crossing my legs when I was about ten or eleven. I think it might be normal that the top of your leg gets numb because its under pressure for all that time.

I have been told that it is bad for circulation in your legs. I cross at the ankles. I have worked hard to resist crossing my legs due to circulation problems. I have noticed that if your are some what plump, it leaves a permanent "bruise" on your legs where you cross them.
