There are many reasons birds pluck. They physical reasons are a vitamin A deficiency. Check the bottoms of his feet to see if they're starting to turn a shiny pink.
Another is heavy metal poisoning from something he's been chewing on.
Another is mites.

Then there are emotional reasons. He's not getting enough attention. He doesn't have enough to do, not enough toys. He bored.

They pluck for alot of reasons...I have an African Grey that is in perfect feather...these are birds that are notorious for plucking and she has never pulled even one feather and I totally believe it's because she's very happy in her outside flight ( We live in Florida). She gets natural sun, air, rain and I only feed her fruits, vegs, grains...no seeds unless its a treat. I think you may want to look at his diet, his location, if he has enough toys to amuse himself with, have a vet check him for an infections..there's alot it could be. Good Luck, I hope he gets better.

Chickens do that too! It's some kind of mineral deficieny that causes birds to pluck their feathers. Ask the vet.

The best thing to do is get him to a vet.

If you don't have a vet, you can find one at
