My doxie is 59 days pregnant and I just checked her temp and it has dropped to 98.4, I know it's different in every dog but does any one know an average time that labor should begin?

I am not a byb, I know it is 12-24 hours this is my first litter. I have a breeder helping me, he is unavailable at this moment. I am waiting for him to call me back. I also know that a dog can deliver any where from 57 -67 days. I did my research before I bred my doxie. i also have my vet on speed dial.So don't judge people to quickly.

Sounds like you have done a lot of research, and it is wonderful you have a mentor.
Before the labor actually begins you will notice many if not all of the following symptoms.
She will be very restless, cant sit or lay very long at a time.
She will want to tear her bedding apart.
She will need to go pottie much more often.
She will shiver like she is freezing.
She will hassle like she has run for miles.
The last sign you will see is the actual contractions, you will be able to see her stomach muscles tighten and then become loose. If hard contractions and pushing go on longer than a max of 3 hours GO TO THE VET there may well be a problem.
I have never had good luck with the temp watching.
Good luck with the pending litter.

You have a mentor, and you have done your research--just be ready to get screamed at about being a BYB, people are going to criticize no matter how hard you have worked and planned for this litter.

Gestation is any where from 62-67 days. My dogs temp. was 98.4 exactly about 30 min. before she started whelping.

The babies should come any day now. The dog gestation period is around 60 days.
