My father was put on the Fentanyl Patch when he was diagnosed with Mesothelioma (cancer caused by breathing asbestos dust). I must say his personality was changed. He was more 'spaced out' and not so alert to what was going on. But it *did* make him comfortable and for that we were are grateful. He had no pain complaints after his first patch. In all, no one in my family was dissatisfied with this drug. His pain had to be relieved and morphine would have over-sedated plus it made him sick. Hope this helps.
