Straight or curly is just fine...as long as it drapes over the lap and there's enough to grab on to.

I like the style known as a "Qui Gon". Qui Gon was the name of the Jedi mentor to Obi Wan in "The Phantom menace" and he had a bit of his hair tied back, and the rest of it loose.
