Anton LaVey said that god doesn`t exist and neither does satan. So basically, how are these guys different from atheists?

I am an atheist Satanist. To be atheist is no to believe in the concept of deities, afterlife, and all that. Satanism is an atheistic kind of doctrine that prones the fact one is his or her own god, and to make their world the way he or she pleases. The objective of this is to be a stronger, happier person. I'd say it's a philosophy, more like, but call it as you might.

And no, we're far from being tax-exempt. The CoS pays its taxes, like all churches should.

No. they cannot be called atheists also. Pagans and satanists believe in an evil entity or alternate higher power. Atheists do not believe in ANY god or larger more powerful being.
They believe that what is, is, and happened by chance with no intervention from a god or outside source.

Since Anton Lavey wrote the Satanic Bible and founded the First Church of Satan I find it extremely difficult to believe he made this statement, or that he was serious. No one worships and forms a church to worship a diety in which they don't believe. It would make absolutely no sense. If indeed he did make this statement then it merely proves the source of atheism -Satan. Satanists worship Satan and his demons. They pervert every aspect and belief of Christianity during their worship. Does it make sense to you that the founder of a Satanic worship church and who wrote the Satanic Bible would not believe in the deity which he worships? That would be like an atheist going to church to specifically worship God. Nonsense!
