Normal drinkers don't do that. The fact you are questioning this behavior is a sign of a problem. Alcohol is a drug, and about one in twenty people are addicted. Alcoholism was declared a disease by the American Medical Association over 50 years ago and this disease runs in families. People from every walk of life have it, and it knows no boundaries. If drinking is causing you enough pain, then you are ready to get help. The good news is that there is free help from others who have gone through the same thing. It's nice to know you are not alone. AA isn't as bad as many make it out to be. It worked for me for over three and a half years. The problem is that if you stop using the program, the next thing you know is your back in the bottle.

Dont know if your serious or not? If you are perhaps you have an alcohol problem and "hair of the dog" drink the next day is recommended by heavier drinkers than yourself.

Two reasons:
1. you could not spend few bucks on good cause and instead opted to waste it by buying vodka.
2. just to have the Vodka handy next time you want to feel like sh!t again.

perhaps the shop just had an offer on and you felt compelled to buy another bottle because you knew that realisitically, sometime in the future you'd end up buying one anyway, and you may as well buy one now when you didn't want one, because when you actually want one you might end up buying two because you want vodka so much!! argh! you alcoholic!!

Maybe because the drinking makes you forget all your problems. I would advise to get help maybe you have a drinking problem
