If EVOLUTION occured, then how come it hasn't been occurring for over the past 4000 years???

Question

human beings have been in existance for over 4000 years and before that, evolution occured (accoring to scientists). how come it hasnt been occuring since then?
I dont get evolution theories because a lot of it to me is not very accurate.
I am a Christian and beleive that God created everything. so please dont be rude and all, talking about Christianity, I'm just asking for a logical and reasonable explanation (if there even is one) as to why evolution hasnt occured over the past few thousand years

It is slow and it has.

Look at a bed from the 1600s. You won't fit because we are getting taller. You probably had to get your wisdom teeth out because our jaws are shrinking. It happens really slowly, especially when a species is very successful. Evolution does not require change if things are working well.

Turtles have changed very slowly and would be a better example for your point--you might get to the millions of years. Cows, chickens, dogs and goats on the other hand have changed quite fast due to our interference by selecting traits that are useful to us.

Evolution on humans or animals. There are many evolutions going on with animals as for humans,there is no need to adapt to anything when we are at our prime. Evolution occurs when a problem with surviving occurs. We evolve in a certain way to adapt to the changes. So far, we humans have industrialized and overcame many problems that stopped us from breeding whether it be killer animals or the cold. Evolution is something forced on organism when their survival depends on it. This process takes a long time but eventually happend much like how we developed our brains.
Now, for religion. I dont get how people could believe in the God theory so easily without proof or anything that could top evolution. There are different religions for different societies so I would think that alone would show people that all of the religions could not be true. The bible was supposedly the word of God,How can you prove that? How is it that a man or men created the bible out of psychic thoughts with God? Much like how you feel for evolution, I feel about religions. I cant understand how people love to mix superstition with logic. Is it even logical anymore? We humans are just human centric and love to be the center of the universe and the creators best creation. Its weird. Im wondering whats more accurate to you, Evolution or Human centric ideas of God(which is in our image-what race,who knows)

Humans evolve very slowly, extremely slowly. To give you a perspective, you know that all children are growing, but you don't see that on a day to day basis.
Evolution has been occurring, my friend. Why do you think that pre-historic men looked different than we look today? There were pre-historic birds which no longer exist today. Just too many examples.
The fossil records demonstrate that. Geological time is a different
ball game.
People have a certain difficulty believing what has been clearly demonstrated. The same people have no trouble believing in things that have no proof of existence, in books written thousands of years ago, by totally unknown people.
In summary, evolution is in progress today. You have to have a broad concept. The flu epidemic, the bird flu, AIDS, are all small but collateral signs of evolution.

You can't use a biblical assumption to prove or disprove evolution - if you look at what evolution teaches - they estimate that the homo sapiens has been around for about 300,000 years, not 4000 as you think and mammals for about 1,8 million - the earth is estimated to be about 4.5 billion years old.... so you can see that 4000 years in evolution is NOTHING - it is like asking - so if you claim you AC is working, how come the room has not gotten any colder in the last 2 seconds?

But as earlier posters have pointed out... evolution is occuring in human beings - mainly in size and life expectancy - we also gradually become less 'hairy' ;)

want fast evolution, look at bacteria. They can reproduce in 20 min, so they evolve very quickly. If someone does not take the anti bodies to a specific bacteria and some of the bacteria remains it will evolve and change. But these are only 1 cell organism, people take a lot longer. We change now from our forefathers. We are taller and we store more fat. We are getting smaller, narrower noises because we don't use smell anymore.

Evolution is a constant state of nature. It doesn't happen visibly in stable populations because natural selection tends to stability. But extinction is a part of evolution and we are in the middle of one of the biggest mass extinctions in the history of the planet. I think you expect to see humans sprouting wings or extra eyes before you'll believe, which shows how ignorant you are - you are certainly not in a position to say "it is not very accurate".

If you don't think evolution is real, next time you go to get a flu shot, ask for last year's. Surely it can't have changed in a year?

It goes right along with your idea that God must have created everything that you have not personally witnessed, and since you weren't around when your great-great-grandparents were alive, then they MUST have popped into existence by God's divine magic! Oooh, spooky!

You are Christian and you believe that God created everything because that's what you were told and it never occurred to you that there might actually be something outside your little bubble of naivete?

The skeletal remains of people 1000 years ago shows that they were much shorter than modern man. Did God suddenly make us taller to coincide with the tops of refrigerators? Your belief says that's what happened, but anyone with more than a room temperature IQ knows that's not true.

You offer no proof that evolution has not occurred other than your uneducated opinion.

Actually it has. I hate this question because it is one of the easiest things to see. All my family have extremely small wisdom teeth, except me which I have none an my children don't have them. Which is nearly proof of evolution. We're getting extremely taller, and are brains are becoming even more complex. We are losing our toes, are hands are becoming bigger. are legs longer and arms smaller. You must get evolution is an extremely slow process it took us 6 million years to get us that way. I see to many things wrong with creation, who do explain micro-evolution. I common misconception by creantists is that Evoution states we came from apes. Nope we came from a common ansestor which is extinct. Evolution is very acurrate.

It is happening! Evolution doesnt just happen over night! How is evolution not accurate? FOSSIL EVIDENCE! Monkeys werent flingin crap one day, then decided "oh hey, i wana be a human". You dont know what evolution is! It is the theory that less successful species die and are succeeded by the successful ones!

Evolution has happened. It's simply not much time. It is 1/55,000th of the time mammal have been on Earth and no more than 1/375th of the time it to to get from primitive man to modern Man. It is happening, but you are too myopic to see it.
