How do I know if a guy wants to be in a relationship or just a fling?

Well, that can be tough, it really depends on the guy. Some guys see girls as game, prey, something to chase. Other guys latch on to the first girl that actually shows the slightest bit of interest. The rest fall somewhere in between. So you need to try to figure out what kind of man you are dealing with here.
Most guys don't want to be tied to one girl if they don't have to be. Guys and girls can have a very different view of their relation to each other. Generally, if there was no speak of commitment, then it is ok to see other people too. Never assume that just because you guys never talked about committing to each other, means that you're the only girl in his life. So if he doesn't care if you sleep with another guy, then it's a fling. Otherwise he would do something to prevent that, within time and reason.
It goes down to the simple reality that girls want one guy to satisfy their every need, and guys want every girl to satisfy their one need. Both girls and guys will date someone, just so they won't be alone. Everyone is trying to attract the best mate that they can. If you have someone in your life, you feel relaxed and comfortable. It's easy for guys to go look for a new girl when they already got one at home, the pressure is off, they can relax. They know that their gonna have sex tonight, and somehow this seems to make the guy more appealing to other girls. Anyway, back to your question. I think it comes down to how you guys spend your time together. Does he come over and you guys just fool around or does he take you out, show you off, introduce you to anyone in his family? Also, what is your reason for being together? Is it a mutual attraction, do you have a lot in common, common goals or are you both just really bored and lonely? I think deep down, you know what this is. Go with your gut. Not your heart or your head, your gut!

If he wants to be in a relatioship with you then he would want to get to know things about you. If he just wants to have a fling some of them will simply say that is what they want or throw hints at you all the time about having one

A fling usually only lasts a few weeks, if that long. When it goes past two months it turns into a relationship.

Most guys are scared of commitments so the best thing would be a fling..... you can tell by asking them how they feel though because there is no better way to know

LOL> Join the club!!!!!!

The best way to know is date them and NOT give it up for a while. If they stick around and act smitten with you, they probably like you in a relationship fashion.

If they are trying to sleep with you off the bad, you are a fling. And if you succumb, you will never hear from him again.

Good question. Guys are WiErd an un understandable (even if its not a word) sometimes but there are a few signs like how he acts and things most times trusting your instic and of corse commom sense will tell you. If he seems protective of you or says thing like :

i love you
nobody can take you from me
i'll never leave you
and blah blah

you can be pretty sure we wants a relation ship but most guys don't come right out like that so watch out

Just assume its a fling until you find him doing things for you that normal people wouldn't do. Like bringing you bouquets of flowers when you're feeling down.

relationship=
takes you out in public, introduces you to his friends/family, romances you, asks your opinion, tells you about his daily doings etc.

fling=calls on his way home from being out with friends for a booty call! and does none of the above mentioned relationship things!
