What can I say? Diamond Lil beat me to it. But I'll be she didn't know it was used for morning sickness on women in South America, as early as the forties, with few to no problems. It started in England where they first used it for morning sickness. The doctors there have a different standard then we have.

Couldn't you just see the doctors here giving thalidomide to thousands of American woman, like the English doctors did without the proper tests.

Many of the babies were born with "flippers" like Diamond Lil said, and some without legs.
The appendages didn't develop normally in the womb, the drug stopped the normal development while he fetus was developing, the mothers took it for "morning sickness" I did hear they were using it, or trying it here, on men for morning sickness after drinking. That's a fact. I can't give you any details about it though.

The drug caused babies to be born with no arms or legs, or both no arms and legs. It was used for morning sickness in the late1950's.

No, I didn`t know about it being used in the 1940`s in South America. I only knew about it being used in Germany.

Then there was another morning sickness pill introduced in the 1960`s named Bendectin. It was found to cause babies to be born with limb and hip joint problems and was banned.
