No! you cannot just pack and ship wine anywhere in the US from one State to another. Many, many States have very strict and arcane laws regarding the importation of alcohol into their States. Here are the Fed-Ex and UPS links, study them closely to make sure you are not in violation of any laws.

You can indeed. There are plenty of mail order places that send wine all over the country.
I recommend either Fedex or UPS. You will need to either get a special packaging container made for bottles of wine or pack it very very carefully in the large bubble wrap. Don't skip on the wrapping. You will need to mark it fragile and check to be sure the level of service you are paying for will handle fragile materials okay. You might have to go with a 2 or 3 day service rather than ground for special handling.
By the time you buy it and package it and ship it you might be better off buying it mail order (no tax if out of state!) and having them ship it. They are good at it, have the right packaging materials, and will bear the liability if the bottle breaks.

You can ship wine with any of these services. Depending on which state you ship to it may be illegal. It is a felony to ship wine to Nevada, Maryland, Utah and a couple others. If you want to do it legally you need to have an adult sign for it. You will have to tell the company it is wine and needs an adult signature. If you want to ship it illegally you can tell them it is olive oil or a food additive. There are wine shippers that you should use to pack the wine in. You should be able to buy them at shipping company's. If not just make sure to bubble wrap them good.

The answer to this depends on the the state the recipient lives in. There are three possible results: 1. The state allows out-of-state shipping of alcohol. 2. The state allows out-of-state shipping of alcohol from a winery IF PURCHASED BY THE CUSTOMER ON THE PREMISES AT THE TIME OF SALE. 3. The state does not allow out-of state shipping of alcohol AT ALL. The US Supreme Court has ruled that those states banning or restricting alcohol shipments are in violation of Federal commerce laws, however, it takes a lawsuit or action from the state legislature to actually overturn those laws. Thus, it is going very slowly. These laws affect you the customer as well as the wineries who want to sell to you. Theoretically, you are guilty of bootlegging by shipping it. In short: You can be dishonest and box it yourself and ship it by your preferred carrier. If it makes you feel better, mark it as "laboratory test samples" as even dry states allow alchohol to be shipped for testing rather than drinking. Or hope that those dry states get with the act and change their laws and buy local.

I think you can. If you are worried, just order the wine online from a winery or vineyard and have them send it for you. I sent wine as Christmas gifts last year. They even offered nice velvet or satin wine gift bags.

check with your post office -- some states do not allow wine to be shipped in -- I agree with the person who said to order from a winery and have them ship it -- they will tell you if the state you want to send it to allows it
