Most likely it is nothing more than just nerves reacting. Being your first time at the mammogram, you could have experienced some anxiety, fear, embarassment, pain and a whole host of other mental reactions. I have known of friends who break out in hives when under intense stress and anxiety.

I have been doing mammograms for over 15 years, and I have never heard of a patient getting hives because of their mammo. I would guess that even if you did not have a mammo, you still would have gotten hives. Sounds very coincidental to me.

hives are the body's reaction to something you are allergic to.
benedryl pills or lotion helps control the hives and itching but you
have to find out what you are allergic to.

Lots of different things can cause them, you can be tested to find out. My mom has been tested several times (she's almost died from them 3 times in her life)... They can't pinpoint what causes hers... and they never start the same. Sometimes they are severe, sometimes they are mild. I would talk with your doctor. Maybe you just got with something that you are allergic too! Good luck!!

See a physician. It can also be caused by allergic reactions. It can be from something you ate. Your doctor will help you figure it out.
