I lost my retainer, and was wondering how much it is for a replacement- maybe my parents won't be as mad if it isn't too expensive.

If you had JUST completed your braces and lost or damaged your retainer, I could see someone making a new one for little more than the lab fee. They would still have useful models on hand. Of course, your orthodontist still has the models he made your original retainer on, but (trust me) a new retainer made on those models would not fit your mouth today. You will need a new impression - top and bottom - and then they can make a new retainer. You will then need an additional visit in the office to make sure it fits correctly and to make sure that the wire and clasps are adjusted correctly. THAT's why it will cost $300 or more.

Sorry to break it to you but retainers usually cost around $100-$200. But it all really depends on the retainer, different retainers cost different prices. It depends how much stuff they put on the retainer. Sometimes if you lose it for the first time the insurance company pays for it, but some don't. Better find it or not lose it again.

Good Luck!!!

I think it is £25. Please be honest & tell your parents. You need your retainer to keep your teeth nice & straight. The quicker you tell them the better, I dont think they will be too cross with you, these things happen. Good luck
