It depends what you mean by ridicule. I once saw an amazing comic sketch by Peter Kay where he stood on a stage, opened a bible and started to take the rip out of Genesis.
He openly admitted he was an atheist, but still he didn't mean any harm by it.
It's comedy. How can you say that it is unfair to ridicule and poke fun at Religions, inaccuracies and claims, and then be OK when people make fun of politicians, or celebrities.
Growing up in Scotland meant that I was brought up in a country where anything is open for a rip take. There used to be a TV program which poked fun at pedophilia.
In my opinion, you can ridicule religion. It's part of our free will to be able to do these things. Besides, there's nothing like sitting down with a bottle of wine and ripping into Scientology is there?

Are you kidding me? Who honestly follows that code? In a lot of people's cases, it's: anything's fair game, ESPECIALLY RELIGION! A lot of people like to ridicule religion, just to get a rise out of people or for the fun of insulting them, which is a waste of time (and seriously overdone; do they think they're the first people to think of doing that?). Anyways, I disagree with the statement. Also, I don't think you should ridicule just "anything else;" only some things are meant to be ridiculed.

Tell me,can I ridicule Atheism for mocking God.
Can I ridicule a certain Atheist for not wanting to be my friend?
Can I ridicule my fellow Christians for not acting Christlike?
Can I ridicule the Pope for being a *****.
The answer to all of these questions is no,no,no.
For every time you mock religion you lose credibility.
Ridiculing is a sign of immaturity.
I don't believe in making fun of anybodies religion.
I will criticize it or comment on it,but I would never mock someones belief.
We have more important things to worry about, like taxes and work and family and friends and charity;etc.
I suggest you ridicule the speck in your eye first before you do unto others...
God Bless

I would say the same thing if I was the church. Its basically like the medieval times. You should not ridicule the king because he has divine authority. I disagree. It seems that the religion thats forbidding ridicules, riducules everything but themselves.

Totally disagree! Religion is the most controversial, socially separating creation in the history of the planet, and as such should be thoroughly lambasted at every opportunity.
How can we possibly come together as a species to accomplish wondrous things if all we do is whine about who's god can beat up your deity? I'd rather see that energy put to good use instead.

Agree and disagree. Agree because it's simply oafish to do ridicule anyone's spirituality in their faces, and disagree because religions are only worldly structural manifestations of spiritual philosophies, and due to that, no one is better than any other, and all are debatable. Those who disagree with THAT are making themselves partial - which is fine, as long as they admit to it.

Sounds like an insane principle, but of course it's been the subject of serious debate here in the UK, where there's been talk of introducing a law against it. No, really. Comedians have been up in arms, for fear of losing one of their most productive sources of material.
Also of course there was a case in the Netherlands of a cartoon appearing that appeared to ridicule Mohammed. People died as a result.
Thing is, each religion has different moral constructs to guide its response to criticism or mockery. I've heard Muslim leaders interviewed, laying it on the line - you mock Mohammed, people aren't gonna smile and take it lightly. In Christian terms, there's a nice little get-out, as explained by comedian Bill Hicks:
"Two Christians came up to me after the show and got in my face, and they said 'Hey Mister, we're Christians and we don't like what you said!' And I said 'So forgive me...'"

Everything should be ridiculed including religion. The most happy people have the power to ridicule themselves. Ridiculing is a virtue.

Disagree.
There is, however, a time and a place for religious satire. There is also the difference between making jokes about religion and being completely disrepectful towards a religion.
