No, not over the counter. It is best to see a doctor and have a proper consultation, because if you were to take unprescribed antidepressents they could do more harm then good.

St Johns Wart does help if taken over a long period of time, but it also shouldn't be taken with a great deal of things. It even has complications with the contraceptive pill

See your doctor.

You could try St John's Wort - said to be the herbal Prozac. This will take the edge off your depression but cab take a few days to work.

But read the instructions since it is not recommended in certain conditions.

Have you thought about some form of therapy? This can be more effective than medication. Check with your doc. Good luck!!

If you have depression particularly at this time of year, it could be Seasonal Affective Disorder. If so, a lightbox can really help. Look up SAD on internet.

Hope you feel better soon xx

this might sound weird, but the best antidepressant I've used is working out. I'll go into the gym with a headache and feeling like crap and I'll walk out feeling great. You might also want to try to sleep 8 hours a day.

I agree with the above answer. The best way to feel healthy is to live a healthy lifestyle. Get some sleep, get some excercise. You'll feel a lot better, gauranteed.

There are herbal preparations, but the best advice is to see your doctor, and get properly diagnosed. It might be a medical problem.
