I noticed a small lump behind my right ear today. It's hard and it hurts a little. It hurts like a bruise but its a lump. It's behind my ear lobe but its not on my ear its on my head/neck region, where the skull ends and muscle starts. I don't know if this makes sense. I'm trying to explain it the best I can. I'm a little worried and I am going to make a doctors appointment, but has anyone ever had a lump behind their ear before? Can anyone tell me what medical conditions are related to lumps behind the ear? I've also had bloody noses lately too. Could this be related to the lump? I would appreciate serious answers. Thanks to those who answer this.

that in fact sound like a lymph node issue the lymph node when fighting such things as infections and what not fills with a fluid'lymph' and may appear to be hard or lumpy, normal people get these too my dear, usually when sick, it is your body's way of protecting and fighting itself. bloody noses, those could be related but i doubt it, with it being winter it is dry and bloody noses come, but the lymph node issue, is like your body warning, you might be catching a cold right now or something along those lines . may you stay in good health

Hi Brandy: I shouldn't worry but you did the right thing, make that appointment. I would guess it's a Kelid cyst (tissue and hair) it could be related to a nerve ending since it seems to hurt. Don't irritate it. Tell the doctor you want it off. He may drain it, this is where he'll cut it open, there's few nerve's in these so it won't hurt but it'll drain for awhile. It'll dry up on it's own this way. That doesn't mean this is what you have Honey, I'm just giving you inferences. A human being has about 11 or 12 cysts in there bodies most don't bother them, some irritate the nerves and have to be taken care of, some grow and are ugly.

You did the right thing with the appointment and follow through, go with what he says, and good luck. Don't worry so much.

The two things could be related. Some times if you are getting sick, they can appear. A friend of mine had on once and she went to the dr. and they gave her an antibiotic. It cleared up. It could be some type of infection or maybe a cyst. but do go to the dr. asap just to be safe. good luck!!
