Okay, I know there are some people that honestly like them, or have them for a good reason (like religion).
But there are some people that get them just because it's the "trendy" thing to do.
I want to know why you got a tattoo?

THIS IS NOT FOR ALL OF YOU:
If you are going to critizize my question (or wording), please don't answer it.
If you are going to get mad about certain things I write especailly when I'm not inteding to offend anyone, then you really don't belong in the real world.

This is a very good question. I have nineteen tattoos and I plan to get more. I love tattoos for many reasons. I think the pain I get from the needle is somewhat relaxing and all my tattoos mean something. They are expressions of my inner self on my body.
I'm not some pain lover or anything of the sort....I just love the whole tattoo experience.
I agree that some people get tattoos (things such as bunnies, chickens, goats, etc) for no reason other than just to get one. I don't agree with that perse' but its their body.

My first tattoo I gave myself when i was 15. It's just the letter "B" and a heart. My second tattoo I got when I was 21 and it meant a lot to me. It marked a life lesson that I had learned. The third tattoo I got last year for my tenth year anniversary and I was 34. That is my favorite tattoo. My husband has a matching one. I plan on getting more tattoos as I move through life. Each one marking a period in my life that is significant to me.

I myself don't have a tatoo. But since man first walked the Earth, humans have marked themselves out of religious faith or as a sense of belonging to a certain tribe or sect.
Some Ancient warriors were awarded the right to wear a certain mark on their bodies as a sign of their courage in battle or as a sign of coming into manhood. There were those warriors who received a tattoo as reward for several years of service to a king or chieftain.

I got a tattoo because I wanted a piece of art on my body. I only have one and its on my upper back so it can be hid if not appropriate..Some people actually enjoy the pain in it and say it is some kind of release for them.

i have, for as long as i can remember been fascinated with tattoos. and recently (this year) met my tattoo artist who does only custom art and i was blown away by his talent. since then i have gained such respect for the tattooers who have dedicated their lives to learning and perfecting their art and i admire those people who let these artists use their skin as a canvas, the time, pain and money it takes to get great tattoos is unreal. it really is an art form and it is an art that i am proud to collect.
i couldn't imagine what my skin would look like without tattoos.

I don't have one, but it's their bodies... they can do whatever the f*ck they want to it. I think it's really creative and hot in some cases. *smiles* By the way, I don't think getting a tattoo for religion is a "good" reason. You're talking trends here, yet you don't even realize that religion is one of the biggest brain-washing "trends" around. Ugh...

my tattoos have a reason behind each and everyone one of them I have three of them and the one is an old English L which the "L" is for my name and I decided to get it in old English because a friend of mine who I was close to for many years drew my name out in it for me to keep and he passed so it is kind of a remembrance for him to me, I have an angel on my back that I drew up and designed and it is in my eyes my guardian angel and I have my sons name on the base of my neck and that one should be obvious why I got that one I think alot of people get them to express their individuality and others get them for pathetic reasons but all and all it is something that expresses art in my opinion
