Please-please-please - as you have been painfully honest here regarding your ailments especially the drink problem, be very brave and take the next step and phone AA for a support talk and info on their mettings.
All the symptoms/afflictions that you have mentioned are identical to ones that plagued me for years.
Do it for you.

Well, if you mean here on R&S, I hope I do. I know my grammar and spelling are bad (almost wrote is), but it is the message one is trying to convey that is important. True, grammar and spelling help get the point across easier and make it easier to be taken seriously. Spell check does not work all the time and sometimes I try to cut and paste for the reasons above. Yet I can get pressed for time and just write as best I can so the person can recieve a good answer which should not be confused with a scholarly work. My Father, who only has a 6th grade education, can barely write and yet when he does I do not write him back or correct him. He deserves respect and is quite smart on spiritual matters and other areas as well. Plus there are few pieces of equipment he cannot operate. We of the College set could learn from his example. Only a fool passes up knowledge because of grammar and spelling.

This could be due to your drinking, depending on how much you drink. However, those symptoms sound a lot like the symptoms of a TIA (transient ischemic attack), aka "mini-stroke" or "warning stroke". Do you smoke? Are you near age 40? Do you have high blood pressure (higher than 130/90)? Are you at all overweight? Do you have Diabetes? (That is also something you should be tested for, untreated Diabetes can cause tingling in the extremities as well). Do you get headaches? Do you know if you have high cholesterol or any kind of cardiovascular disease (atherosclerosis, CAD, PVD)? These are all things you should look at seriously. I could only hope that your doctor ran this kind of workup on you already.
If these are all negatives, then I would really try to get into a detox program, or even go to AA meetings, drink lots of water, get plenty of rest and good nutrition, and do your best to drink less. I put some links in the sources for you, I hope you get to feeling much better soon. Good luck!

hubby gets dizzy at times and pins and needles, the doctor told him it is stress. as for the bruises...you say you have a drink problem, could you knock yourself when you have had a drink and not realised as your numb from the drink?
stress is a funny thing, it effects people in different ways, are you on medication for it, also if you are mixing it with alcohol won't help, im not going to go into that as I'm sure you know already.
have you tried talking to a councillor about how your feeling? it may help.
try to cut down on the drink, (i smoke so i know what it's like to depend on something to relax you) possibly take up a hobby or go for walks, try voluntary work...anything to take your mind off whatever is getting you down.Your sons need you just as much as you need them.

Sorry to hear that. Get a second opinion. You need a neurological assessment as the symptoms are all nearly neurological. Some may be caused by excess alcohol but not all unless you have an unknown illness as well. See another doctor and ask to see a specialist. If they say no, ensure you are taken to casualty the next time you are bad.

It is a pity that you have not given the ages of your two sons. There are at least THREE VICTIMS in this situation.
It occurs to me that you are in a very serious situation and your doctor is only able to see that you ARE JUST ANOTHER ALCOHOLIC suffering from the USUAL and MANY illnesses associated with co-morbid or co-existing mental illness and addiction to alcohol and (perhaps drugs) of one sort or another.
Seek HELP from a mental health service, RIGHT AWAY and depending on their ages make provision for your sons to be cared for by 'caring family members' if at all possible.

sounds to me like you are suffering! When my world collapsed on me I had the same symptoms, I was prescribed pills, but did not want them. Eventually I went to my local nut house (sounds dramatic) but had group therapy. One hour once a week. Just talking to others and hearing their stories about their conditions made me realise it WAS a mind problem. I stopped drinking and punishing myself. It was all down to depression and low self esteem.. Please be strong and tell the doctor the help you need, hopefully you will get it. My thoughts are with you.

it could be stress but if you are not convinced ask to speak to a different doctor at your surgery to get their opinions, they may send you for a blood test / ECG just to check you out. try and get help for your drink problem as your boys need you as they will be going through a tough time too, they will need you to be strong for them and if you are drunk that is all they will remember their mum being through the time they needed you the most..please get help for their sake! Good luck my love, Take care. XX
