America didn't come to a halt. The only thing that happened for me personally was I went to Walmart that day and i could actually walk down aisles without being run over by carts or people blocking the way. I didn't hear foreign music blaring over the intercom. It was the first and last time I ever enjoyed being in Walmart. I even got to park close to the building. If only every day were like that.

You are living in your own fantasy world. The American industry came to a halt? In your dreams it did. What came to a halt was the idea that illegal immigrants can demand anything. The other immigrants learned their lesson and quit with the protesting. It has made matters worse for immigrants as a whole. If you don't get that it backfired, you just go right ahead and march. I will look forward to seeing you on your knees with those cute plastic handcuffs on.

I don't remember industry coming to a hault. I remember streets that were peacefully full in Chicago and other places around the nation. I don't think that one day is really enough to have the impact people need to see. Are you a clone, or the real thing???

Last May 1st was a very pleasant day. Less traffic and could actually go to the store and know what store employees were saying for once. Don't remember anything coming to a screeching halt either,,,, my toilet still got cleaned, my dishes still got done and low and behold 2 workers showed up to finish my fence and they where Latino's.
You just better hope they don't decide that it IS possible to deport all of you that day since you will be so kind as to all being in the same place in large numbers.

I don't know that America was brought to it's knees. I don't recall any impact personally or for anyone that I knew.
Perhaps if the working people of Mexico did something about the corruption in Mexico it would be a better place to live. The GDP of MExico is one of the top 10 in the world, yet it is impoverished. Where does all the money go? Somebody is making bank. Why not fix your own country and then worry about America?

Go ahead... keep ranting.
The Working people of Mexico... hahahaha. Idiot this is the United States of America, not Mexico. Thank you for proving that the Mexican illegals have no good intentions or love for the USA.
Keep up the good work Alberto.

Feel free to plan your walk out. The only thing we legal americans/immigrants learned is that Illegal Immigrants conjest the streets and overcrowd stores. Go ahead and walk out. It just means I can finally go to walmart without having to speak spanish for ask for assistance.
Nothing decreased on May 1st 2006, except the crime rate.

"Americas industry came to a halt."
That is a completely false statement. A lie in fact.
Numerous newspapers reported across the country that the day had no effect what so ever on production, services, at all.
The only lesson for America to learn is to enforce the laws, and remove people that have illegally crossed its borders.
What I cannot understand, is if things are so bad in their home countries, and they are willing to go out and protest, why dont they do it in their own country???

Yes, it succeeded in Los Angeles. However, for the rest of the nation, it failed miserably.
If you are so proud to be Mexican, why did you abandon your own country and refuse to make it a better place? Why do you hate your people so much? How does it feel to be a complete traitor?
How about we have a year without illegals. Go back to your own country for an entire year and see if we actually miss you. I bet we won't!
