It is an instrument that is used for a number of procedures...depending upon the tip that is inserted. Originally it was used to scale (clean) teeth .... but it now can be used to pack fillings...ream out root canals...a lot of things.

Haha - ORIGINALLY, the Cavitron was designed to prepare teeth for fillings, but then they invented the "air rotor" and the Cavitron had to be re-evaluated for other uses.
