(lift is english for elevator by the way.) I'm just wondering because i don't live in a city or work there but i imagine the embarrasment must be unbearable?

Some men and maybe women also find it most hilarious to let a fart out in the lift as they are leaving it , for the next people to step into the lift. This is done by the lower class of people and not professoinal people who work in such buildings that use lifts for their work. Most embarrassing, just hope noone knows it,s you that did it.

Lot's of times but don't feel embarrassed in the least and I find farting highly amusing so laugh out loud when I do. I was once given a telling off from a boss I worked for for seeming to take pride in my emissions which also made me laugh:-)

I think this is a legitimate question. I think this has happened to just about every one at one time or another. When it happens to me, since I always look like a person that would not do that, I just kind of scratch my nose in sort of disgust, like someone else did it. But one time it happened at work, that one I just had to say "I am sorry, I had not eaten all day". Everyone was gracious enough not to mention it ever again.

My friend let one fly just before some older guy got on the elevator. We both started laughing at the situation and I made a feeble cover by saying that my friend had just told me a joke. The older guy, without skipping a beat, looked at my friend and said, "Don't bother repeating it, I think I already know the punchline." Thank goodness he got off right away because we were dying!!!

I still have to laugh at the the peter sellars clip when 4 off them in the lift looking tough as gangsters not smiling or speaking and then one of them lets go and they all double up as sellars was always known for giggling on set

no, but once i got into a lift which smelt really awful. It was empty except for me... which was fine... until it stopped on a floor and some people got in. I couldn't let them think it was me, so i declared to them that the smell was in the lift from the start. Maybe that made me look all the more guilty... but too bad.

no i haven't, but i was in a lift once, there was a fairly chubby man next to me and he smelled like rotten eggs =S
then he started to talk to me, and he had really bad breath, once i got out of the lift i went into my friends apartment and i found out that he was my friends uncle ><

Yes, I farted and stepped out just as the door was closing. Arent I awful? Also did a right big echoing trump sitting on a wooden church pew during my mates wedding ceremony.

? i would say it is.. i used to just fart like mad, before i got off (no one was with me in the elevator) and would laugh thinking of the pain i would b causing to the next person... i know its not really appropriate... still its funny..lol

no but I have in Subway... I was sitting with my friend on these plastic chairs so that when you fart it like vibrates (yes I know, gross) but I farted once then she farted then we both let one rip at the same time...of course everyone was staring at us
