The 'standard" is two months salary. You may have to save for it, but just think--it is a ring she will wear everyday for the rest of her life (you hope, right?) so you're gonna get your money's worth out it regardless of much you spend.
But when all is said and done--and at least i'm being honest here--a girl wants a ring she can show off to her friends and be proud of---so she say "Here's just how much my guy loves me!" I am sorry to break it to you but it is more than just the thought that counts--do her right.

Wow, would people really spend that much money on an engagement right? The ring is very important, but that's $2500-5000 that could have been spent on fixing up your love nest. The wedding isn't everything. Seems like girls just care about their wedding. It's the man and your future together that matters.
I would think spending under $1000 would be okay. Not sure about jewelry though. I don't ever buy anything expensive.

If you go to the diamond district in any city you will find a good deal. I would say anything less than $600 is cheap, but you could find something that can be upraised for a few thousand dollars that can be $ 600. But i would say set a limit for yourself and ask her what type of ring she would like, in a way that she won;t have a clue that you are gonna propose.

The old rule is two months salary (this rule was popular with ring merchants)
Spend what you can afford...or better yet get a simple ring (under 100) and use it to see if she will say yes then choose rings together.

I don't think price should come into it as long as it's nice and what your girl wants. My ex wife was always into how much everything cost and had to double the cost of her engagement ring when she discussed it. In 19 years nothing ever made her happy. She got something and just moved onto the next thing she wanted.
I am married again now to someone really special who does not question how much everything costs. So just buy what you can afford that you think your girl will like and don't worry.

I heard once tha tyou should should spend somewhere around 2 months salary...
But honestly.. if you do it the right way and its heart felt you can spend 50 cents and she will still love it. My dad proposed to my mom with a ring from a crackerjack box. I think thats just plain romantic.
You want my advice save the money for the real wedding ring.. she will be wearing that one forever. Good luck.. ! :)

what i have always heard is approximately 3 months salary. But if you don't think you can afford that, pick out a great ring in your price range, if she loves you, she won't care about the size. verage price is over $1,000.

Cheap would be getting the ring and finding that one stud already fell off. Lol. I would suggest between $100-$120. That should get something nice. GOOD LUCK!
