MMMMM ask him why he wants to do it? make him feel ike you are with him now and to enjoy the moment that maybe you guys as a couple need to experiment more things before making the decision of getting marry is a big step and that u want to enjoy many other things with him in the phase of boyfriend and girlfriend that then this time that u guys have is not coming back after marriage somethings you guys are not going to be able to do alione

If you don't want to marry him, you have to tell him. If he asked you to marry him, he is not going to like the answer. So tell him as kindly as possible and as lovingly as possible but make sure he knows the answer is NO. It's not maybe, it's not later, it's not when you graduate or get a better job. The answer is NO. The most hurtful thing you can do is string him along, giving him reason to hope when it's hopeless. Being blunt and direct and honest is the only approach if you really don't want to hurt him.

I don't think there is a way, but if I was to be let down I would like to hear it like this. I love you very much and if I had to choose a partner right now it would be you, it's just that I am not ready for marriage at this time in my life.

Just tell him you're not ready to settle down yet or you're just not ready to make a commitment just yet.
Say, you can't see yourself getting married for several years.
Say it's not personal. That you would turn ANYbody down right now.
That should work and I'm sure he'll understand that.

Just be honest with your feelings to him. Unfortunately, he's going to be hurt regardless, but better something is said now, then later down the road. Good luck!

Bottom line, it's gonna hurt, you're rejecting his proposal. But you can't be whishy washy about it. Be honest and direct, tell him how you feel from the heart, cause that's what he'll be listening from.

honesty hurts a lot less in the long run. tell him how you really feel and don't give in to his arguments,promises,or threats. getting hurt is a part of love and you have to risk pain to find love
