The American diet overall is a mess. Peanut butter in moderation is a fairly healthy food though. PB &J is a comfort food we go to it to feel better; Like we did when we were kids.
Concord Grape is the quintiscential American jelly. I like Blackberry but the secret most Americans won't share is peanut butter with bannana slices or honey. Whitebread in all its carbaliscious glory is the best.

ok well first of all i hated peanut butter and jelly growing up and have only recently found the greatness to these sandwiches. and im was born and raised in OHIO, in an all american town and neighborhood. now they have those frozen ones, that you can buy, and those are the ones i like really well, i love smooth peanut butter and Strawberry jam- that has NO extra chunks in it. i dont like grape flavored anything, but i ALSO love a good peanutbutter and nutella sandwich. these have to be on really soft pre sliced "american style" bread, wich i normally dont eat but is the only way to eat these sandwiches.

I prefer a natural peanut butter with raspberry or blackberry jelly (with seeds) on some sort of seed bread. This sandwich can easily be made more healthfully by using whole grain bread and natural nut butter and it will taste great that way.

My friend tried apple jam and quite liked it.
Honey is also really nice with peanut butter but its best to have more peanut butter then honey or you'll be covered with honey, lol.

Actually I think it's better with syrup or maple syrup rather than jam.
Here's another simple peanut butter recipe to try -

Strawberry preserves. If you want a really good sandwich? Try a Fluffernutter. Peanut butter, marshmallow and sliced banana.

I prefer to use peanut butter (the crunchy variety) to make satay sauce. Gently soften finely chopped onion, garlic and ginger root, add the peanut butter and coconut milk till you get the consistency you want. Taste, add salt and pepper if needed. Fantastic with grilled or BBQ chicken.
