Atheism is not a religion. It's simply a self-referential word people use to identify their belief, and means:

1. the doctrine or belief that there is no God.
2. disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings.

Atheism is not a religion per say, it's more of a belief that there is no god/creator. And being an atheist is definitely not politically correct. Atheism is looked upon as being the equivalent of satanism or something...people look at you like you are the anti-christ incarnate. There is nothing politically correct about being an atheist.

No. Atheism simply means lack of belief in gods.
It's not in any way a religion and it's by no means necessary to be politically correct.

First, atheism is not a religion. It's a stance that denies the existence of supernatural beings. Second, I don't know anyone who identifies himself as an atheist because it is "politically correct" or conveys anything like a favored status. People are atheists because they don't believe gods exist.

no the definition of a person that does not believe in god is "atheist" there is no political correctness about it. its just a word that was made to describe people who dont believe in god. and by the way its not a religion either, because for it to be a religion, you have to aknowledge the existance of god.

i would say agnosticism would be. atheism would be denying any possiblity of the existance of any sort of deity, and that doesn't sound very PC to me.
