Lilydale Bowls Club in Victoria. They hosted learn to play sessions to encourage new players. They also have a social night on friday nights, where you can get together and have a go for a couple of bucks. Its not too serious, and they dont mind if you send the ball in the wrong direction every now and again. The drinks are cheap, and the people are friendly, what more can you ask for?

I have been bowling for near 4 years at various clubs, i think as bowling goes it has it all, it may not be a high flying royal casino with bed and breakfast but it does have the hospitality of a small country town atmosphere in this big city smoke, here you'd be on a first name basis with all. Blacktown city bowling club has 3 generous well maintained greens and bowlers with nick names like JUG the ned Kelly of bowls , Happy, two dogs and more, you'll leave with a smile, come on down.

I would say without a doubt it is the "Safety Bay Bowling & Recreation Club" In Rockingham W.Australia as you see it is not just a Bowling Club, so we have a lot of young people about the place, all synthetic greens, which stops a lot of arguments about the greens. a big membership, so much so that on a thursday Penants day we can get up to 60 Bankers playing (That is Bowlers)We also have the usual Friday nights dinner and Raffle,
and several special nights through the year.

Stockton Bowling Club, NSW.

Right by the beach, great food and bar. Has been sponsoring sports clubs in the suburb for years and years. The young and old are welcome to play.

Anyone can just stroll up along the street and stop by the fence and watch a game.

Ballina Bowling Club.
Has great bowling greens, great social centre and close access to the city centre. Is currently expanding and will be a premier venue in Australia in the next few years.
Also close to croquet and tennis for the socially sporty!

Mr S is spot on. As far as lawn bowls is concerned you can't go past the ambience of Downer. The surface is in a word sublime.
