Possibilities aren't all that bad if you want to start some bush pilot or charter airline where the planes are small. Then later expanding by providing air hop service to a major airline then expanding again this time servicing areas that will have a growing demand for airline service like the pacific islands and the Asian and middle east areas some potential also for the eastern European areas. I would say you have a 1 in 500 chance of starting small and viable it's easy to start small and out of business in a year.

You can start a regional airline in your area. Flights from a major city to small towns. That's the only way i think you can begin. Maybe, if you're lucky, you can get to a larger regional airline using jets. But mostly, you're going to have a small regional airline with prop aircraft.

Good luck!

Start small. Purchase an airplane for sight seeing flights.
Then perhaps, flights from one area to a Major Airport.
Anything is possible. You need to be certified to carry passengers, of course. Also, the weather is a big factor. Bad weather may keep you grounded many times in the winter.

There were many times, I would have loved to be flown to a destination on a Private airplane.....It is faster in the long run....No airport delays.

Keep that spirit alive...all is Possible.

It takes good contacts, a good loan and business tactics to start an airline. I'd say odds are pretty good. But to create a large airline like Delta or Southwest...never gonna happen. That industry is locked down.

If you really want it, and go out and make it happen the chances are very good.

If you just sit around in Yahoo Answers asking strangers about it, the chances are pretty slim.

If you want it bad enough, go out and do it. Enroll in a local junior college ground school class, learn about business management, investigate airline regulations. Make your dream happen, no one else can.

There is no "chance" to it. Either you do what it takes, or you don't.
