every single time i try to talk to this guy i really like, i ALWAYS get intimidated by people eavesdropping. I am really good with asking about subjects we are related to...for example the class we are in and helping guys with HW...but i dont really know anything about this guy! I started a convo once, but he seems shy too and it ended right there. Also..he is an older guy which makes me feel too young and not very beautiful compared girls his age. How can i act comfortable, hold a convo, and work up the courage to look at him while i talk? (he sits right next to me so it is hard) whenever i act confident around him i feel bitchy.

ive complimented him before, but im not sure if he looked pleased because i couldnt look at him for that long! i want to smile at him but his friends in that class would wonder why the heck im smiling at him

Just force yourself to look him in the eyes--that's the mature thing. Plan ahead what you want to talk about and then just stick with it. Think about how he feels -- he's probably shy, and think of things to say that will make him feel better.

Perhaps start by talking to him over the phone and have a list of things to talk about that are non-school-related when the "school" conversation runs out: It's a way to build up your courage while also taking some pressure off from when he's sitting right beside you in the flesh and you're both feeling too shy to talk directly.
If you don't have his number, consider talking to him through notes Hey, I have a queston for you, and the next time I see you I need an answer/esplanation. !@##$--I have an older brother who drives me nuts when he does abc, xyz, this, that, and the other. Why in the world do guys do that???? You're a guy, can you explain it to ne?
Also:
--What's your favorite band and why? My favorite band is playing and I'm hoping I can get the money from my parents or savings account.
--Have you ever travleled to exotic places? I ask bc I saw a commercial the other day about a paragliding vacation that seemed fun...wish my parents would le me go...
--I'm thinking of going to college to major in...Have any suggestions on which local or distance college might be good for me to apply to?

Just talk about any old thing, and before you know it, you and him will be talking first thing. That's the way it happened with me and this one guy!

Pretend your not attracted to him at all and with that state of mind go talk to him.
