Generally two instruments are inserted into the joint through fairly small incisions with one instrument being a camera and the other an instrument to perform the procedure. Arthro refers to a joint and scopic the camera. Surgery of this type is less invasive and the recovery time is much shorter.

Yesterday I went to see a doctor because my knee was (and is) swollen. He told me that I had to do a small surgery called arthroscopic and he explained that it's a quick surgery with a quick recovery. Two small holes are done in the knee to solve the problem. He also told me that it's something that football players do frequently and two days after the surgery they can play football.

this is where they take a little camera and go into your joint to perform surgery, they can take bone shards off or shape the catrilage to improve osteoporosis. This is not very painfull and is a wonderful surgery (I have seen them done)
