It isn't clever or funny or either. Let's face it it's like shooting fish a barrel.

I think the reason is because people who quote the Bible use it as the basis for their argument, so those who quote inconsistencies are trying to show the quoters it is not a reliable source.

maybe those people pointing out the inconsistencies should realize that it is "man" that wrote down what's in the Bible and "man" that did the translations and the copying , etc... is it small wonder that the Bible will have consistencies? Unless God decided to write it in His own hands those 'inconsistencies can't be helped.. oh and for trhose of you who were saying all those nasty things about His children... not nice ... and the one doode talking about seeds taking sprout nad changing the beliefs of the christians thru pointing out inconsistencies(with the horrible analogies) ... lol what are u like the Omen? ... or should i say Damien... ;-) i just found it a bit appalling that you'd wanna mislead His children and talk so casually about it...wow...
Oh and here's a little link regarding the ambiguity surrounding the "virgin" terms almah and betulah ... as stated, the term "betulah" also does not automatically denote a virgin and almah doesn't just mean young woman... it is also an ambiguous term that usually meant a young unmarried woman... now you should know that at the times, an unmarried jewish girl was a virgin...

Because there are so many! And the Bible is what the Christian faith is Based off of. Unless there are sources I am unaware of...!!!!!
I dont think people are trying to be clever> People just want the truth .
Like this for example:
Isaiah 7:14 In MOST bibles today this is what is printed
' Therefore the Lord himslef shall give you a sign- Behold a VIRGIN shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.'

It should not be VIRGIN. The Hebrew word is Almah-
which means YOUNG WOMAN. Not Bethulah, which means virgin. So the bible is misleading, and full of interpalations (Additions which are not in the most Ancient texts)

If you are to base faith in the words of a Bible, why wouldnt you want those words to be as accurate as possible>?

People like to point out alleged inconsistencies in the bible for many reasons.

A) they are theologically illiterate.

B) they are full of pride, an seek to gain the moral high ground by denigrating the Holy Bible.

C) pride is often cover up for feelings of inferiority, and since they are not Christians, everyone who is must be made to appear stupid.

D) the have a fear of the truth because it might make them look like they are wrong.

You are mistake people who believe change their minds. I was once very much a Christian but that is not the reason for pointing out all the inconsistencies. It's because certain people say there isn't any. But of course we all know we are taking the entire Bible out of context when we do point them out. xxx

I only point them out when I'm talking to someone who makes the claim that the bible is inerrant. And you know what? Sometimes people do change their mind. It won't happen right then, but that seed can be planted, and then days, months, even years later, it can sprout. I apologize for the silly analogy.

It allows them the false comfort of proving their position. Sadly, you cannot prove something w/ a negative so they are not gaining any strength for their position.
Others do it to get a reaction, believing this somehow enhances their own social standing. It gains attention.
Still others do it out of a mistaken belief they are hurting others - much like a graffitti artist on a subway.
