you dont want that, shitty hours, and alot of bullshit. You will be most likely work as a gate gaurd or standing on the outside of a plane for 12hrs. If you dont mind sitting behind a desk doing paper work take the admin posistion. At least that will be normal hours. If you dont like admin you can always put in for special duty assignments, like postal, Trianing Instructor, Honor Guard.

Security Forces usually get the short end of the stick. Unless you really wan be a cop on base. Then Id turn it down.

Security Forces are the unthanked, unappreciated bacbone of base ops. They work terrible hours, work on weekends and holidays, and are the butt of many a joke. But, if you don't mind that, it wouldn't be such a bad job. An administrative job would put you behind a desk working a basically 8-4, Mon-Fri schedule. If you want to carry an M16, M4, or assorted other weaponry, go SF. If you want to have a 'regular' life, go administrative. Both deploy to Iraq, but generally the SF guards the detainees and the base. Either way, you're under-appreciated. Good luck with whatever you choose, and thank you for serving.

It depends on what you like. SF are the protectors (and most like infantry in other branches) of the Airforce. You will be the base police along with other protection duties. You could work the gate and check IDs or the flightline where you sit on the flightline in a vehicle and patrol your entire shift. If you think you would like being a civilian cop then this is a good choice. SF Cops have a tendency to be more gung ho than the rest of the AF physically so it's really if you are up to the challenge.
Good luck with your decision. Of course each unit is different so that factors in too.

Air force security do a variety of things. They man the gates of the bases. Do patrols of the flight-line and base. They also guard aircraft like the stealth fighter and bomber. Man security stations. They are the police of the Air Force. They also have dog handlers.
There is allot of jobs on the outside that security forces could transition to.

From what I've heard your basically an MP but without the ticket writing. I'm in the Army, but I've been stationed with air force personnel. You do gate guard, search vehicles, lame stuff like that.
