As Unitarian-Universalists, we believe in the unity of God. We believe that He is indivisible, so we are forbidden from belief in the Holy Trinity, a core belief of the Catholic church. We disagree with the sacraments, except that marriage is a sacrament of sorts. We have fewer laws than a religion such as Catholicism or Orthodox Judaism.

We believe in placing more emphasis on personal duty and responsibility and less on religious authority, though we have governing bodies. We believe in discussing issues with the counsellor and the leader of the Church. We believe in family and the individual. Our communities are communities within communities, so we are loyal to our fellow followers, who are part of our extended family.

Our roots can be traced back to German Reform Judaism, the
Protestant Reformation and the advent of Universalism. It was a reaction to Catholicism. We were viewed as 'heretical' Christians. These days, with the discovery of the Nag-Hammadi, it is important to be aware of its teachings. We do not accept Catholic doctrine as the be-all and end-all. We don't like cultish ideas, so the Da Vinci code is not a popular way of looking at Christianity. We endeavor to create world peace and bring about justice, prosperity and human rights for all. It is not a missionary religion, but you can convert easily. We have been involved in Eastern Europe, helping out people rejected or persecuted by the Catholic Church in the 1800s. This is because we were convicted of heresy by the Vatican, so we sympathize.

Also, there is a lot of emphasis on the roots, the roots come from the early traditions and mystical rituals of the Nazarites and Gnostic Christians. We believe there is more than meets the eye to the bible, kind of Sufis would view Islamic text. We look for the mystical aspects of Jesus' teachings. Take the visions of the Wise Men. That could be seen as pre-ordained, a form of divination.

I beieve in science. Especially the most recent conclusions by those who have studied our origin. On a daily basis more and more scientists have concluded that this Planet could not have evolved on its own. They believe very strongly in our evolution, fossil records etc, but they believe at some time in our past, specifically about 550 million years ago, this planet was seeded by something, or someone from outside our solar system.

The archaelogists call that period 550 million years ago, the explosion of life, and life forms on Earth.

I also believe in evolution, technology, I believe the writers of the Bible(the original scrolls) were honest about their feelings and experiences. And, yes, a believe in God, I believe in God's message. I believe that Jesus reittereated God's message.

And just what is God's message?

Harmony is harmony.

Disharmony is the only sin against God.

.........

Well, your views may be different. But, I have been as honest as I can to tell you what I believe.

I believe in the promise of God's Kingdom, that there will be peace on earth as there is in heaven, that the Son of man is coming for the second time to right evey wrong, to disclose all that is hidden, and to establish peace on earth and goodwill toward man.

I believe that man was created for the greater good, not for the selfish state we are in now, where power corrupts absolutly and the ones who think themselves important will be put to the back and the meak become the ones who will reign over them.

Nothing. I hold as true three axioms, each required for knowledge to be attainable:

1. Math & Logic are valid.
2. Observations are valid if unaided, or if aided, the aid meshes with unaided observations and math.
3. If there is a supernatural realm, it does not influence the natural realm at all.

I hold these as true only because no knowledge can be held without them.

Beyond that... I want proof/evidence of everything.

I believe in fair play and living a moral, useful, fulfilling life by the guidance of reason and compassion. I believe we only get one life, therefore a wise person will do his utmost to make the best use of the precious little time he gets.

Who cares what people believe in. Why are you asking this question anyway? If someone believes in something, then the reason is because they just do. It's just the way it is, it isn't logical.

On the other hand, people who don't believe anything, are wiser because they don't choose to believe in things that aren't proved (nor close to being proved).

I believe that our Lord Jesus Christ underwent extreme pain for our sins and that when we die we will all go to Heaven with Him and the Father.
