I'm going to the doctors tomorow, but until then, its agony to swallow, and my glands are really swollen! What can I drink/take/do to soothe the pain?

You do not say which glands are swollen. If you are in a lot of pain, and you have a headache and or rash or temperature do not wait until tomorrow call out your doctor.
However, I have found that boiled water, let it cool, til luke warm mixed with salt, for salt water GARGLE,(Do not swallow) is a great, reliever, of sore throats.
After gargling with salt water, a teaspoon of honey, in a warm, cup of milky hot chocolate, goes down very well, and hopefully that will help you go to sleep tonight. i wish you better

hot honey lemon tea. Gargle with salt water. It sounds like you have tonsillitis or a throat infection and the doc will probably give you penicillin or amoxicillin as long as you aren't allegic to those things. Also before you go to bed take advil and that will help with the pain and let you get some sleep.

I always put peppermint oil in my hot tea. It soothes my throat. Make sure not to drink cold drinks. I know they "feel" better on a sore throat, but the cold thickens the mucous causing it to stick to your throat making it sore. Also, stay away from milk or other dairy. The cultures will get "stuck" in the inflamed tissues and sour.

Feel Better!!!

Paracetamol, hot milky drink and bed with hot water bottle pronto. See if you can get some Tyrozet lozenges tomorrow from the pharmacy, they have an anaesthetic effect. Hope you feel better soon.
