Arctic Moss, Arctic Willow, Bearberry, Caribou Moss, Diamond-leaf Willow, Labrador Tea, Pasque Flower, and Tufted Saxifrage to name a few examples, but it is mostly mosses and lichens that grow in the arctic. Most plants grow low to the ground there because of the harsh conditions.
There are around 1,700 to possibly 2,000 plant species in the arctic out of about 280,000 plant species that have been identified in the world. 350,000 plant species are estimated to exist since botanists find new species all the time.
