It's usually some atheists saying that Christians are /less/ intelligent.

Who says that?
I am a christian...but I would assume that in general its low IQ people that have an easier time relying on faith.
Now, christians I would assume are "wiser". But not higher in intellectual capacity.
Who are these people that say that?

Knowledge of God is priceless. You either have it or you do not. Knowledge of human things will get you no where. All of the wisdom in the world will get you no where in the end if you do not accept Christ as your Savior.
