Where is this possiblity even on the radar screen...outside insane asylums?
Is it that you fear manadatory religious ritual that you see "that other religion" forcing upon others...is that why you ask this safer version?

Well seeing as mandatory school attendance has never been totally successful why would anyone expect that mandatory church attendance would be? And how would it be enforced, by the Faith & Chastity Police? My guess is if that were it ever attempted (and how could it be anyway?) the neighborhood tavern would fill up sooner than the first 10 pews in church.

No and this is a huge reason why I chose to not be part of a religion. Any God that would send someone to hell for not attending church every Sunday (and that person has been a good kind person)...well thats not a God I want in my life. I know plenty of people that attend church reguarly and they dont act very christian like. Just going through the motions doesnt count...shouldnt the focus really be on what you did with your life and who you helped?

Church attendance is a symptom of a vibrant spiritual life and direct involvement in the christian community. Its not something directly discussed in the bible.
If you are a vibrant believer getting together with other believers will be a positive side affect.
If one must require people to attend something...then things are not going well.

For the people in my parish....yes. It already is.
Right out of the Book of Common Prayer catechism:
Question. What is your bounden duty as a member of the Church?
Answer. My bounden duty is to follow Christ, to worship God every Sunday in his Church; and to work and pray and give for the spread of his kingdom.
Now, for the general public, I'd have to say "no". You'd have a much better chance if you required mandatory Starbucks purchases.

no because this infringes upon the free will and rights of people who do not want to go to Church or who do not believe in GOD.
