I currently have a DVD - RW dvd recorder which has great editing facilities and really useful ( Video and VR Mode ). But when we use DVD + RW do we have the same editing capabilitys. Also what is a better format and most commonly used.

DVD - R and - RW were the first formats to hit the market. DVD + R and + RW were developed by an alliance of companies to prevent them having to pay royalties for using the DVD logo - and these disks still do not carry that logo.
DVD -R and -RW are still supported by more players and recorders than either of the other 2 formats. DVD -R (in particular) will play on about 95% of all players and is my format of choice when burning Wedding DVDs.

they are both as good as each other. +rw used to be the most popular, but most home dvd recorders use the minus format so that is getting more popular.

DVD +RW isn't any better but it's more common,my writer can write all types of dvds so i don't realy pay atention to those kinda' things
