My laptop came with an installed copy of MS Office 2003; but no actual disc. I want to reinstall Windows without formatting my HD, but I don't want to lose Office. Will there be any problems?

Most likey yes. Office may not work. I can't guarantee for sure.

There should be option during reinstall to repair current installation. if you choose that It might survive.
ideally it should not disturb your current programs but microsoft applications are something special! They can't do anything without a mess.

Sorry, probably you need to try your luck.

Here is an alternative. creat partition in your hard drive using some software like partition logic(free) or partition magic(not free). Install fresh windows in the other partition. Then the software partition magic can switch programs from one partition to another. Just switch office to the other new installed partition.
Now you can reformat the old partition. It will surely work because I did it before.

last option: Just don't care about office 2003. get free Open office of sunmicrosystems. it is very powerful open source project for alternative to MS office. You can install it and try before you decide. it has all the modules(word, excel, powerpoint, access etc) included but MS office 2003 sells those pro, standard etc version to hide their different modules.
Definitely worth a try.

If you "repair" you windows installation, all system files will be overwritten with the system files on the disk. Doing this will keep all of your programs and documents in tact. Just make sure that you don't format the drive, or else you will lose everything!

Check your computers documentation... your computer most likely came with reinstallation CD's or a hidden partition on your hard drive that includes all of the preinstalled software that came with your computer.
