It's absolutely true, but I just don't understand why?
Anybody?

Weird.
I always see this question posed as "why don't atheists want to hear the truth", but the same people who are angry about my question don't seem to mind that question.
Isn't that strange?

Because they are not strong enough to deal with truth so they have to live in a fantasy land

Human beings are unendingly fascinating to me. This question fascinates me. You know, a Christian would say “Why don’t Atheists ever want to hear the truth?” Isn’t that incredible? Neither of you absolutely know the truth, yet you are both so certain that you do and you are willing to risk everything for that truth. Even this very question is in no way designed or worded to get to the real question that you want to understand. It will just feed the flames of the dispute between a very very old argument between “believers” and “nonbelievers”. If you searched to whole universe, you wouldn’t find one creature like a human being.

the truth is not absolute, that is where you err, however religious people whould rather hide behind thier bibles and believe whatever they want to believe.

Religious people? Is that like a new group of people, really your statement is too brood, and involves too many people to have merit.

How many people did you pole on this for instance and how did you come to the determination that they were religious, and is it because they don't believe what you believe. You see the problem, define religious people. Define what you consider to be the truth then maybe your question will have a more realistic aproach.

Your question does not hold up in this forum as a true question.

The truth is quite relative. The truth about what? I think alot of religious beliefs stem from a lack of knowledge or from fear. However, there are good and bad sides to everything. I think that you should believe whatever you want to believe, but that you should also be accepting and tolerant to others. There is no point in telling people that they are wrong, because they aren't. But neither are you.

Believe that people are individuals, but that we are all Human Beings. And all humans deserve respect.

What is the "truth"? If you think you have the answer, you're as uninformed as the religious nutcones that have all the answers. Human beings taint reality with their limited senses and construct a "reality" or "truth" that works for them and addresses their needs. I believe that religion provides comfort to those that are unable to cope with life or are unhappy with their lack of knowledge about their place in the world, so they attribute all actions to the high and mighty. It's a comfortable little package that is simple and gives them a daddy to protect and watch over them. It also liberates them from responsibility for their actions and or inactions. After all, "it's in God's handsuh!

It is not absolutely true, nonetheless, I will attempt to answer you question, using the truth.

The truth is many who would believe in God, would create Him in an image which is pleasing to them, and thus be Idol worshippers.

In this way, they can take pride in the fact that they are right and lord it over others. Anything that attacks these "sacred" beliefs they have, then, causes them to lash out, and prevent God from enlightening them.

They can hear the truth, but not understand it, and then, therefore, believe themselves able to put themselves in God's place and judge anothers soul.

Religious people do very much want to hear the truth. I, for one, am very religious and seek the truth at all times. The problem is, everyone thinks they KNOW the truth and most people refuse to seek truth.

What truth? I noticed that atheists don't like to hear the truth about themselves either.

Personal opinion is not the same thing as fact.

Because truth is relative in the outside world. For absolute truth, one must go inside.

Obviously your an atheist. So your truth is irrelevant to anyone who believes in God. People who believe in God hear the truth each time they recieve the Word.
