My friend the nurse, who is on the phone with me now, says you need to go to the doctor to get it checked out.

If it hurts when you move it is most likely chest wall pain coming from the muscles between the ribs and or the rib cartilage. I would not rush to the hospital but if the pain becomes worse, if the pain radiates to the shoulder or neck, if you develop shortness of breath, and or if you develop nausea and or vomiting then I would have someone drive you to the hospital. I hope that you feel better and as always I wish you the very best of health.

If it hurts only when you stretch it is probably a pulled muscle....Does it hurt when you take a deep breath? (muscle or lung) Does it hurt to touch?(muscle or arthritic pain) Pain that comes on for no reason and does not vary is more suspicious of a severe problem. Try taking some ibuprofen or Aleve and see if it helps, if so muscle or arthritis is most likely culprit

Muscle pain? If yes; try aspirin to reduce pain and inflammation.
