Yeah I'm scared.
The permean extinction (before the dinosaurs) was the result of higher global temperatures (5 degrees) releasing massive amounts of frozen methane into the atmosphere. That methane furthur increased temperatures to 12 degrees above average. This effectively turned the whole planet into a desert and killed off most life on the planet.
Even if things don't get that bad. Hundreds of millions of people along the worlds coastlines will be displaced as the ocean levels rise. Crops could fail. freshwater supplies could diminish, deserts could expand.
Resourses could become scarce enough to cause war and famine.
