Why does my cat binge and purge. He doesn't do this all the time, but sometimes after he eats he vomits, then goes back for more food two or three times.

He is only a little over 2 years old and an inside cat. I have tried putting smaller amounts of food in the bowl once in the morning and once in the evening. This seems to make him eat faster.

Sounds to me like your kitty might just have some tummy trouble. Try a different type of food made with foods easier to digest, like chicken and rice. Science Diet and Iams are good ones, but a little expensive. It could also be that your kitty goes too long between meals and when his tummy is really hungry, he can't hold his food down, then still wants more after vomiting. Worms can also cause vomiting problems, so a vet visit might be warranted. Good luck.

I'm not a vet or anything, but I'm pretty sure that cats don't suffer from eating disorders like people do. He probably keeps vomiting and eating again because he doesn't really associate the two. Like, he eats, then throws up, so he's still hungry, so he eats again.

Your cat probably either dislikes the food or has a stomach/intestinal problem. Have you changed brands of food lately? I would try feeding smaller portions of food, and see if that makes a difference. If not, you should probably go to the vet to see if there's something wrong.

Good luck!

Your feeding him too much.

You should only feed him once a day.

He just likes to eat and when food is always available then he doesn't understand the concept of eat till your full then stop.

So instead he eats till he pukes and then he's hungry again.

Look on the back of the food bag for the proper amount to feed him daily and dont feed him anymore.

Puking often is bad for cats like its bad for people.

Then watch him, if that doesn't do the trick then you should see a vet.

Well, my cat has that issue. If you have bought a different type of food lately, that may be it. But, also, my cat has asthma. So, if it continues, I sugest you take your cat to the vet.

Yeah,

Had one very fat cat that kept doing that. Couldn't stop herself eating, and got sick. If it is just food he's vomiting (no clear yellowish liquid), he's just got a eating disorder. Don't leave his bowl full all the time, and he'll stop.

Sounds like the cat has an obstruction in his bowel. Take him to the vet.

tarannie makes a good point. You didn't say how old your cat is. Sometimes, if they have bad teeth, it is hard for them to chew and they swallow the food before it is chewed up enough. Maybe you should talk to the vet and see if he needs his teeth cleaned, or wormed like tarannie said.

Maybe he is trying to look good for when he shows off his stuff to the lady kitties outside the window.
