Catholics are Christians!!! Just like Baptist, Lutheran, Pentecostal, We just have different worship styles. I think it is wrong to pray to anyone besides GOD. This is not meant to be sarcastic, but do you pray to Mary? And I heard that you have your own BIBLES, is this true? I would Appreciate an answer, since I dont know that much about the Catholic religion. Thanks

It may be a matter of necessity for some people. History shows us that Protestantism began as a protest against abuses in the Catholic church. Martin Luther intended to reform the church, not break it up. Defensive church leaders responded with condemnation rather than acknowledgement, so Luther had to break away.

The problem is in the justification for the existence of Protestantism. The Catholic church has an historical trail back to the Apostles. If the Catholic church went wrong, WHEN did it stop being "Christian"? What IS a "Christian"? And how were Protestants able to get back on track without incontrovertible divine intervention? It was necessary to establish a link with ancient Christianity that didn't legitimize the Catholic tradition. The influence of the Holy Spirit is hard to prove, so they settled on a new interpretation of sacred scripture. The Bible was old enough to bypass the Roman era so the doctrine, "sola scripture" came to be, carefully distinguished from other kinds of traditions by its direct "inspiration" from God.

In other words, once the family broke up, it was important to prove how how I'm right and you're wrong. So for Catholics, the Protestant Revolt was something between a schism and a heresy, while for Protestants, the Reformation rescued Christianity from a corrupt hierarchy. Many Catholics and Protestants are able to live side-by-side, but for some, the demonization is a core part of their faith. (And it's not just Protestants. Some Catholics do it to.)

I do not get offended but that's just me. And if I were to get offended I would quickly get over it as the people here are simply giving opinions (or insults) which is their perogative. Catholicism gets bashed for many reasons, not the least of which is the issue of pedophilia that seems to be rampant due to the constraints the church puts on it's clergy. While some people would commit these crimes anyway regardless of marriage, I guess it's a moot point. I don't bash Catholics though, it just is not a religion that I would choose to follow.

Because they think that Catholics worship Mary and the Pope.
They think that Catholic church is all about $$.
They don't want to hear anything from a religion that
gets away with letting bad priests get around.

Well the Catholics do bash the Christians for allowing birth control and not having the True Eucharist in their church.

Is it about the "belief", or is it more about the very act of "believing"? If you "know" (which the human animal does not absolutely), then belief-attachments become unnecessary. "The need to believe" is a function of general and human ignorance. We fill our huge Ignorance Gap with something we can desperately hold onto, believe in, "hope" is the "truth", and which gives emotional and mental flesh to the shadow we fearfully are without all our overlays. Fear of losing causes us to do that, and that is the central, innate human fear. If you can go "beyond" the defined belief (socially very difficult), and if you can assume the 360-degree point-of-view covering "all possibilities", then you cannot become "prisoner" of any one belief, or be nailed to the cross by any fear. Let it all go! If you can be as you truly are, you will find that you are greater than ALL of it put together!

Christians are not bashing catholics I think as much as the catholics like to think they are. The Catholics try to defend their church when in fact they lose site of the real issue. It is not about being catholic it is about being one with the Lord. Why do you try so hard to defend the catholics? Who cares. Do you feel you need a mediator between the priest to God? Or the virgin Mary to God? Christ is the only mediator. Why not just be proud to be Christian and leave out the labels?

Just to shine some light on your questions...

Catholics are Christians...

All other denominations are protesting against the Catholic Church, hence the name Protestants...

I ask myself that same question everyday...

The Catholic Church will always be bashed and attacked, but we are always under Jesus' mercy...

"And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it."

Keep believing in the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ and don't worry about the bashing...pray for the once bashing our faith...

"..And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

Consider it our modern day persecutions...

Your listening to the wrong people. I'm not Catholic, but I certainly dont bash them.
I however do not believe in denominational churches as a whole. I think they are to ritualistic and beaurocratic and have strayed from the real Word of God.

I don't get offended when Catholics explain their beliefs, nor Jehovah's Witnesses, nor Pentecostals, nor Baptists, nor Lutherans, or anyone, even atheists.

I would guess that only those who are not sure of their own faith would do such things.??
