I want to get a Papillon puppy oneday and I want a female with black and white color...but I read in other websites that males are more lovable and want to be with you more and I read that female papillons are not so lovable with you?...is it true??...(I don't want him/her to ignore me all the time T_T)...I wouldn't mind getting a male but I don't know if male papillons grow bigger then the female (I prefer one to stay small)...I know that the purebreed Papillons are small but I want to know if the male and femalle have the same size or does the male get bigger? ^ ^;

please and thanks!

Paps size no matter the sex should range from 8-11inches.
Though of course if buying from a non reputable breeder they can be much larger.

I show and breed Poms but have friends that show/breed Paps.
Like Poms I found the males do tend to have a sweeter temperment. But each dog does have it's own personaility, so you can't say all of one sex is sweeter than other.
It will however be much easier to find a sweeter, cuter, smaller male than female... the reason?
Most reputable breeders like to keep their females, or sell them to other show homes, inless they have a major fault. (Which doesn't mean anything to a pet home, but does when it comes to breeding)

It really depends on the dogs personality. I too heard the same thing about males. I did end up getting a male for that reason and he is extremely lovable. Breeders told me that the girls tend to be more moody and will have times when they dont' want to be lovable. I also have a girl and she is just as lovable as my boys. So, I think it ultimately depends on the dog. My advise is to find a litter with both boys and girls, go see them, and see what feeling ou get. Good luck!

I wouldn't be able to recommend either one as I'm sure it also depends upon the personality of the puppy that you get.

I've had a quick read of this site
http://www.hoflin.com/BR/Papillons
and they all sound delightful, whether male or female. The site contains reviews written by the owners of the breed & they discuss both good & bad points about them.

Once you're ready to get your puppy, perhaps you could discuss size & sex with the breeder & see what he or she recommends. I'd just recommend that when you do go to look at the puppies, to choose one that hangs back initially before rushing forward to cover you with licks ... the ones that come forward straight away are liable to be alpha/dominant & you may not want that - and the little one who cowers in the corner may grow up to be nervous & agressive. You want a happy, socialable little fellow - not too extreme in any way.

I have found that both males and females are sweet.

The only real difference is that a male will usually become VERY attached to one person, usually its female owner. A female will become attached to the whole family, and usually not just one person.

I don't think that the sex really makes much, if any, difference in size, so if you are looking at a specific litter, you can usually guage the pups adult size by the size of its parents.
