I have an adoption question! My husband and I aren't able to have children without medical help and we decided that since he was adopted and there are so many children in need of loving homes we don't want to go the medical rout. I also don't want to go to another country since there is so much need right here at home. Needless to say we've got major baby fever! I was just wondering if there is a network to meet expecting moms without going to an impersonal agency. We were foster parents last year and got our hearts broken in the process. I'm just curios and could use some advice. We're a financially stable, cultured, happily married couple of 4 years and we'd like to eventually end up with 2 boys and a girl to complete our happy family! Thanks for your time and help!

Obviously I'd get a lawyer and do it legally, I'm not an idiot. Please think logically before answering questions, all I said is that we want to avoid an agency, not avoid a legal adoption! Thanks! :O)

I really hope it works out for you.
Your only real domestic option would be to hire a surrogate. Even then, though, you'll need to use an agency to ensure that she goes to the doctor on schedule (you'll pay for that) and that she's been pre-screened for medical history and reliability. It will still cost a bundle, but you'll have your baby and you won't have to get visas or wait for years.

If this is what the mother and you and your girlfriend both want, then you can get a lawyer and do a private adoption. There are still certain procedures that have to be followed (home study, background check etc.) There is nothing wrong with doing it this way. Why should a child have to live in the system for any longer than they have to. Contrary to the way some believe not every adoption has to go through an agency. There are a lot of adoptions that are private and are handled by a lawyer not an agency. My adoption was done by a lawyer no agency involved. Good luck to you.

My parents adopted me 13 yrs ago from newborn through an open adoption. We got lucky, my grama barb new my bio mother was wanting to put me up for adoption an called my adoptive parents and they said they take me.That rarly happens though.I would suggest putting an add in the paper in your town and in the biggest city near you if you live in a small town.Good Luck my parents are trying to adopt another baby and are trying to find a birthmother. They've been foster parents for 8 1/2 yrs.I know what you mean by getting your heart broke, but at least you made a difference in a childs life we've had over 60 kids.

Without going thru the state or an agency, I don't know of any other way! I am a foster parent now and had my heart broken a few months back....but, we are going to adopt the one we have left. Yes, you get older children by doing it our way, but if you want an infant...put an ad in the paper, called planned parent hood...

The best thing to do is to hire a lawyer and do a private adoption. I am always seeing ads in the classified section of the newspaper from lawyers seeking pregnant girls that want to give their baby up for adoption.

you are asking for trouble if not going through legal proceedings. Think about it, how do you PROVE later that you legally adopted the child? What if the parents changed mind later? They can sue you for child abduction.

Be very carefully. Some people will say they are preg, and they will be but the will lie to take your money and then when they have their baby they will change mind. An agency is the best approach to take but i don't know any to sugg. to you all I can say is WATCH
OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
