Was told I can use microsoft office to view it but not true. the file from the mac was transfered to my PC by way of a usb mem stick. file reads "ABC copy" on my machine, no extention like doc txt pdf etc etc how can I read this appleworks document?

If there is no extension, the person who saved the file did something very strange or they changed the file name after saving it. An AppleWorks format file will have the extension ".cwk".

Rich Text Format (filename.rtf) is not usually needed for these two programs to communicate and will sometimes leave out important text style. Generally speaking, MS Word cannot deal with any AppleWorks format files while AppleWorks can deal with both types quite easily. For best sharing results, always save the AppleWorks file as Word for Windows format (filename.doc). That is an easy process with AppleWorks. Just look for the "Format" option when you start to save the file.

Take a sledge hammer to your PC buy another Mac. :-)

Make sure you're saving as a file type that Windows can read. I suggest using RTF (Rich Text Format) to save your documents. You can do so by using "Save as..." on the File menu. You should then be able to open your document using Word Pad on your PC.

I have under no circumstances had a situation.. i'm a student and open my be conscious records typed up on my Mac at abode on the faculty abode windows pcs each of the time. you basically ought to purchase place of work for Macs.

Check to see if you can save it in a file format like rtf (rich text format) which is recognizable by windows.
