Because it's been on sale for hundreds of years.
Most books, even very popular ones, will sell a few hundred thousand, or even millions, in the space of a few months, and then sell very few after that.
On the other hand, if you have a book that sells thousands and thousands every single month, and does it every month for centuries, and it does this in dozens of countries, you'll get a large number of books sold without appearing on a top ten list.

It is considered the "Best Selling Book of All Time." This simply means that it have been in publication for over 1500 years and assuming that every Christian during that time had one (not likely, but possible) and that everyone that has a Bible has purchased it (Not even close to possible for a number of reasons) Then it would have "sold" more copies than any other book.
Best sellers lists are for books sold in a given time frame, and actually show books sold from manufacturers to warehouses and book stores. It does not reflect what the public is actually buying. That is how some books make the Best Seller's list on the very week that they are available for retail purchase.

That is because the Bible has been in print for so very long. If you group together all translations printed since the Printing Press first kicked out a copy, then more Bibles have been sold than any other book in history.

And you won't see it there. I've looked everywhere for evidence for this claim and the closest thing I can find is that it is ONE of the most PRINTED books ever. That doesn't mean they were sold or even given away. And they count all versions of the Bible, including the JW's version (among others, which many mainstream Christians will say isn't the "real" bible anyway, but they'll use it for the count anyway).

The people who make the list ignore the Bible, the Dictionarys, and other reference books. They just want to know what new books are selling, and what type of book is worth publishing. For example in the USA they are selling many books about Iraq, Islam, and so on. This is non-fiction.

Not the best selling book, the best known book, the longest to survive, it is an account of man's history.
It is the most purchased because religious groups provide free copies to whoever wants one such as the Gideons for example, there is a copy in most hotel rooms, etc etc.
It is not nice to poke fun at people's beliefs you know, we can all use a little religion from time to time just to keep us on the straight and narrow. God bless and peace man.

The Bible is actually the most read book in history! It has been translated into more different languages and distributed for free more than any other work of literature ever. Pretty cool for a book lots of folks don't believe in, huh?

The answer about multiple versions is on point, but the more salient point is that it doesn't sell in spurts, like best sellers, but just goes out of the bookstores fairly regularly, month after month and year after year. Books that point out its errors and fallacies do not sell as well.

it ONLY is if you add up all the variations, versions and different translations of the bible. there are over 100 different versions of the bible out there.
if you add them ALL up, then you find that more copies of it have been PUBLISHED. not sold, not even distributed. many millions upon millions of copies are sitting in warehouses right now...
millions of them sit in hotel rooms and NEVER get used. that's just ONE example of how foolish the claim is...
